THIEVES USE TREACLE SUM OF £3O TAKEN On Thursday night thieves broke into the Gaunt Street tramway depot and decamped with about £3O in cash from the employees’ club The thief or thieves had evidently climbed on to the roof of a shed and then up a pipe. Treacle had been smeared over a window to prevent the sound of the glass being broken. Once in the club room the office door was forced with a jemmey. The intruders left by the front door.
