OUNCILLOR WELCOMED

KARANGAHAKE PROSPECTS Prior to the commencing of the Ohinemuri County Council meeting yesterday, a hearty welcome was conveyed to Air. J. B. Alorris, who was lately returned to represent Karangahake Riding in place of the late H. Al. Corbell. Air. Alorris, in reply, said financially he represented a poor riding, but he was sure that something better was before Karangahake. In the past £16,000,000 had been gained in gold from his riding, and he was sanguine that portion of the goldfield# would, in the near future, contribute largely to the revenue of the county.
