CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING AT RUAKURA

PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP Under the auspices of the Hamilton Gun Club, the Auckland provincial clay-bird championship was fired at Hamilton to-day. Mr. J. McMiken won the gold medal and prize money attached to the event. The results were as follow: Auckland Championship, 21 birds, off 16yds.—J. McMiken (Hamilton), 21 birds, 1; A. Hobson (Auckland), 20 birds, 2: It. Clinch (Huntly), C. Seddon (Hamilton), G. ShaAV (Thames), and J. Amundsen (Hamilton), 10 birds each, 3. There were 14 entries. No. 2 Shoot, 10 birds.—G. Peach (Hamilton), E. Thornton (Thames), C. Seddon (Hamilton), A. Dobson (Auckland), and G. Shaw (Thames), shot the possible. In the shoot-off, Dobson and Peach came first, and Seddon and Shaw second. There were 14 entries. No. 3 Gimcrack Shoot, 10 birds. —A. Dobson (Auckland), C. Seddon (Hamilton), G. Peach (Hamilton), H. Clinch (Huntly), tied with 9 birds each. In the shoot-off Seddon came first and , Clinch, Dobson and Peach tied for second j place. There were 15 entries. No. 4 Shoot, 10 birds.—J. Amundsen (Hamilton), H. Clinch (Huntly), W. H. Semmens (Whakatane), A. W. Stuckey (Hamilton), E. Thornton (Thames), and A. Dobson (Auckland) shot the possible. In the shoot-off Amundsen, Clinch and Dobson tied and divided the prize. There were 16 entries. No. 5 Gimcrack Shoot, 10 birds. —H. Earle (Hamilton), C. Seddon (Hamilton), J. Amundsen (Hamilton), G. Shaw (Thames), and A. W. Stuckey (Hamilton) tied, and in the shoot-off Stuckey came first and Seddon second. There were 12 entries. Shoot for Novices, 6 birds.—R. P. Reid (Hamilton), 1; F. R. Seddon (Hamilton), and W. T. Routledge tied and divided the second prize. Mr. J. McMiken’s performance proved a. feature of the programme, for in two shoots yesterday and the championship to-day, he shot 63 birds without a miss.
