OHINEMURI COUNTY

VARIOUS WORKS The Ohinemuri County Council was yesterday informed that it was approved that the road from Netherton Ferry to the Kopu-Raglan Road should be declared a main highway, but the Main Highways Board could not act owing to the financial position. Notice was received that Government would consider a subsidy of £1,500 on a £2 for £1 basis for metalling 4* miles of the Whangamata Road. A grant of £2O was made to the Waikino School of Mines. Thanks were received from the Whangamata Settlers’ Association for the councils’ help in the district. The Highways Board declined to take action with regard to the erosion of the Komata Stream above PaeroaTliames Road.
