BAYSWATER WEDDING

OSBORNE—MASLIN Rose and gold was the theme of last night’s wedding between Girlie Alaslin, only daughter of Airs. C. H. Osmond, jof “Alston,” Bayswater, and Jack Shaw Osborne, son of Air. and Airs. W. Osborne, of Epsom. The ceremony took place at St. Peter’s Church, Takapuna, the Rev. AY. G. Alonckton officiating, and girl friends of the bride had made it a charming setting with spring flowers and the orthodox wedding bell over the chancel steps. The bride looked charming in a girlish frock of ivory crepe de chine cunningly appliqued in beads with a spraying floral design in pastel shades of pink and blue outlined in gold thread. The dress was made on jumper lines over a gathered skirt, and with it was worn a cut tulle veil caught in soft folds to the head by a single trail of orange blossoms. Her bouquet was composed of pure white flowers with floating streamers of tulle. She was given away by her step-father, Air. O. H. Osmond. The bridesmaids, Aliss Edna Craig and Aliss Ngaio Finnis, were dressed alike in warm tones of rose and old gold the frocks having fitting bodices of panne velvet and full shirred skirts of tulle with transparent hems. A large floral posy was worn at the hip, and sparkling irridescent headbands completed the modish toilettes. Their bouquets were carried out in sweet peas, stocks and poppies in shades of rose and gold, and were adorned with large tulle bows to match the respective frocks. The groom was attended bv Air. Jack Parlour, and Mr. Ernest Inglis was the groomsman. After the marriage the guests adjourned to “Alston,” where the reception was held. The lovely old house, set high on the cliff, amid spacious grounds, was ideal for the purpose, and the starlit night lent added charm to the scene. The interior of the house presented a gay scene. The hall and dining-room were festooned with streamers in the prevailing colours and the floral decorations of red anemones, daffodils and primroses completed a charming picture. Over the bride’s seat was suspended a large wedding bell, daintily decorated and beribboned to tone with her gown. The wedding breakfast over, tlu guests adjourned upstairs, where dancing was the “order of the night” until a late hour.

The bride’s mother wore a handsome gown of black sequined georgette and a wrap o fblack panne velvet. Airs. W. Osborne, mother of the bridegroom, was in black crepe faille and wore a floral shoulder posy. Airs. Fred Alaslin chose a dainty fuchsia georgette frock and banded her hair with silver tissue.
