STRAND

“AUCTIONEER” AND “IRISH GIRL” At the Strand Theatre to-morrow commences a big double programme, “The Little Irish Girl,” starring Dolores Costello and John Harron, and Marion Nixon in “The Auctioneer.” Doris Lloyd appears in her third successive mother part for Fox Films, as the wife of Simon Levi, in the film version of the Belasco-Warfield stage success, “The Auctioneer.” This role gives the talented English Actress a chance to show how versatile she is in that it is a character part and that she starts in as a young woman and ages 20 years during the course of the picture. Miss Lloyd is adept at character roles, however, having made her stage debut at the age of 16 in the role of a woman of 60. She prefers them to straight leads, in that they give her the opportunity to really act. George Sidney is cast in the title role of Simon Levi. Marion Nixon plays the part of their

adopted daughter, and Gareth Hughes the juvenile lead. Ward Crane is cast in the heavy role, and Sammy Cohen and William Austin furnish the comedy relief. Alfred E. Green directed the proproduction for Fox Films. In the second film, “The Little
