PRINCESS
NEW PROGRAMME TO-NIGHT “Bulldogging a steer” was once the latest thrill in the programme of a western rodeo. Most rodeos of the Present time have eliminated the “bulldogging'’ number from their programmes for the simple reason that it is too dangerous for the cowboys. It required a marvellous riding ability, together with super-strength, the eye an et.gle and the capability of timtog moments to split seconds. "Build ogging,” when properly done, consists of releasing a wild steer from *** enclosed corral, with a mounted cowboy standing in readiness to follow toe ste€T. The cowboy must jump from his horse alongside or on top of too animal and throw the steer from “to feet to the ground. In championship contests this takes anywhere from one to five minutes. Ken Maynard set a record in “bulljogging ’ in "The Land Beyond the his latest First National starts picture, coming to the Princess Theatre to-night. To make the stunt r 1 the more sensational, Ken “bullJJgs” a steer in this picture to rescue "uly Butts, who is in the path of the ®*<Men?d “do&y,” and does so from P* feet, without jumping from a orse. A “dogy” by the way, is a “•overick steer who drifts from the er d and generally causes the most in a round-up. This :.s one of the thrilling episodes o xhe Land Beyond the Law,” which still further in establishing Ken 5il nar;l as the greatest all-round ;5 ern screen star. uCalifornia or Bust,” with George tiara in the leading role, will also ahov n at the Princess to-night.
