AUCKLAND GUN CLUB
FORTNIGHTLY SHOOT The fortnightly shoot of the Auckland Gun Club was held at Panmure yesterday. There was a good attendance of members, despite the bad weather conditions, and 13 competed in the various' events. The first clay match resulted in a tie between J. Benson, Napier (13yds) and I. Lomas (11yds), with 6 out of 7. The sparrow match for Mr. R. S. Robertson’s Trophy was won by C. H. Drysdale (15yds) on the 10th round with a score of 9. S. Roberts (16yds) was second with 8. A special challenge match between Riley Fairley and Duncan Kellett proved a keen contest, Fairley winning in the 4th round with a brilliant sec-ond-barrel kill. The final clay match resulted in a tie between C. E. Hodge (13yds) and A. Hannigan (13yds), with a possible of 7. Hodge won the shoot-off on the ninth round. The shooting under the conditions was excellent, and the club is confident of putting up a good performance against the crack Hamilton team on September 14, when the Challenge Clay Match is to be shot. A new black diamond automatic trap
has been procured, and will be installed on the club’s grounds. This will make the club’s clay-shooting equipment equal to the best in the Dominion.
