BRITANNIA
“EYE’S LEAVES” The audiences that have already witnessed the Leatrice Joy’s latest star picture, “Eve’s Leaves,” unhesitatingly vote it one of the best photoplays presented here in many months. It is more tan that —it is delightful in every respect. The Oriental flavour of the story, the dramatic situations, the comedy scenes which abound, the excellent portrayals by William Boyd, featured as leading man, Robert Edeson, Walter Long, Richard Carle, Arthur Hoyt and others, contribute much to make the picture a huge success. You can see this picture seevral times without being bored, and that is saying a great deal. If you miss this picture, you will surely miss a screen treat of the first water. “Eve’s Leaves” will be presented at the Britannia Theatre to-night.
Clara Bow’s first appearance upon the screen resulted in a complete failure. Given a small part several years ago, the now delightful Paramount star did not know how to put on her make-up and when her chance to act arrived, she was told to cry. The result was that the tears made such a mess of her grease-paint and powder that when the action was reviewed on the screen the director cut her entirely out of the picture! How times have changed!
