SUCCESSFUL YEAR The annual general meeting of the Hauraki Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held at Paeroa on Friday last, the president, Mr. H. J. Hare, presiding. The 29th annual report and balance sheet was presented, which recorded a very successful year, showing a profit of £sl 13s 3d. It was decided to hold a one-day show instead of two days. The following officers were elected for the year:—Patron, Mr. A. M. Samuel', M.P.; president, Mr. IT. J. Hare; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. J. Andrews, C. A. Stenbridge, B. E. Vealc and J. Buchanan; chief cattle steward. Air. C. M. Stembridge: chief horse steward. Mr. W. F. Johnstone; light horses, Messrs. E. I*. Fathers and W. ! Sheenhan; gate steward, Air. W. J. Andrews; call steward, Air. X. Beattie; executive committee, last year's, with the addition of Alessrs. E. A. Chester, W. G. McMillan and P. R. Henry: general committee, last year’s, with the addition of Alessrs. W. Marshall, G. Ataclarn. J. Hamilton and T. Barratt; land and finance, Alessrs. E. W. Porritt, 11. J. Hare and E. P. Fathers; schedule committee, chief stewards, president and secretary; auditor, Air. E. E. Allen. ROAD REPAIRS The unmetalled section of the Pae-roa-Pokeno main highway beyond Waitakaruru is now receiving a coating of rotten rock to enable traffic to proceed. This work was started about three weeks ago, and is now nearly finished. FOOTBALLER BREAKS LEG At the Poland Cup football match at Xgatea on Saturday a player, L. Cotter, had his leg broken above the ankle. He was playing fullback for the Plains team, and had just kicked the ball when a Piako player collided with him and both fell together.
