IN THE PURPLE
THE American stallion, Peter Moko, imported to Auckland a few years back by Mr. W. G. Bright, who holds a 2.3 record in his own country, where his brother, Peter Nash, recorded 2.01 a, is stationed in Southland this season. ~ Generally recognised as being one of the best-bred descendants of Peter the Great in New Zealand, Peter Moko has already made his mark in Dominion trotting circles, as he has sired Betty Moko (4.371 as a three-year-old trotter) and a double winner at the Auckland Winter Meeting. Peter Moko himself is a straight-out trotter by Peter the Great, sire of over including Peter Manning (1.572), Miss Harris M. (1.581), Peter Nash (2.011), Peter Volo (2.02), and the well-known sires, Great Audubon and Petereta. If given a chance of being mated with “blooded” mares, the ex-American will doubtless produce some fine material. His name will be kept prominently before the public in the meanwhile by his great trotting daughter, Betty Moko.
