Jeffery, president of the chamber, presided over nearly 40 members. Mr. Jeffery said it was gratifying to see the representative gathering at their inaugural luncheon. He welcomed Dr. Neale °to Te Awamutu to give the first address, introducing him to those present as the secretary of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Neale was a gentleman well informed on economical problems, and his conclusions were the outcome of full information and sound judgment. Ur. Neale was heartily welcomed, and at the outset he congratulated the Te Awamutu Chamber on its successful inaugural luncheon. On-a percentage basis the attendance was far above Auckland’s, for he was informed Te Awamutu’s percentage of members in attendance was between 60 and 70. whereas Auckland’s record was just over 50, and on occasions it fell to about 17 per cent, of the total members.
