Y.W.C.A. NEWS FROM WHANGAREI
During the visit of Mrs. Harold Anderson to Whangarei, she presented, on behalf of the board of directors, to the Girls’ Citizens Community, a banner to be competed for by the various sections. It was handed to Citizen Ena Richards, the president of the P.T.G. section, who had the highest number of credits for the first term. Another happening of interest was Mrs. Anderson’s visit to the High School, where she addressed the senior girls during the morning of the last day of the term. The girls were most interested in her talk, and listened in rapt attention to her fascinating recital of Chinese anecdotes and incidents. Mrs. Anderson left on Saturday, after a thoroughly enjoyable drive through Maungatapere in the morning. VARIOUS CLASSES During the week both arts and crafts and home nursing classes have met as usual. The arts and crafts had a most interesting time with Mrs. Patterson, who brought a lot of her work to show the class. This was much appreciated, as also was a visit the class paid t.o her home, and a beautiful garden, on Thursday afternoon. They were very grateful to Mrs. Patterson for her kind invitation, and were exceedingly charmed with the position of the house and the arrangements of the very lovely garden and shady walks through the natural bush on the pi'operty. The home nurses are near the end of their course and will be shortly facing up to the examinations. Great help is being rendered by the brigade boys.
