OFF TO TE AWAMUTU
V W. BROUGHTON, the popular Mangere trainer, and capable reinsman, has definitely decided to accept the position as private trainer to the well-known light-harness enthusiast and successful owner, Mr. Wilfred Johnstone. He left yesterday for Te Awamutu to take up his duties. “Darkie” Broughton, as he is familiarly known in the trotting world, has been associated with many winners in the province, and his fine exhibition with the ribbons when he beat Nelson Fame with Lady Dunmore at the Auckland winter fixture, won him further distinction. Broughton will have a useful team in Lady Dunmore, Festive Morn, Cornelian and Goldfinch on which to commence operations, and his many friends will wish him all success in his association with the tangerine and white livery.
