SOCCER REPS. FOR SOUTH
MR. NEESHAM’S SELECTION Mr. Phil Neesham's choice of Soccer reps, to travel South in defence of t: o English trophy has given general satisfaction and been the subject of favourable comment in Soccer circles. Although it is not so impressive an eleven as went through the contest last season undefeated, it is a power!ul team which should uphold the lion, herners* supremacy. Only Jones. Spencer, Kay and Baxter are available from last year’s bearers of the blue e nd white stripes. Neither defence nor attack appears as strong as last year. Gerr nl, Reid and Innes were unable to travel, but Ferguson, Miles and Chalmers should prove good substitutes. Kay and Miles aro provisional selections, and subject to their having fully recovered from recent injuries. The team will play Otago on Saturday next, and Canterbury the following Saturday, with a match against South Canterbury at Timaru in between. Mr. Howard Cribble, honor.: rv treasurer of the A.F.A., will tra . I with the team as official representative, and Mr. Phil. Neeshain accompanies the eleven as manager-coach. The team leaves by the first express on Wednesday next, travelling straight through to Dunedin.
