She and the child had been struck on their heads with a hammer. Mrs. Wilkinson was conveyed to a hospital It is believed an attempt was made to strangle Mrs. Wilkinson before she was struck with the hammer, as a cord was tightly drawn around her ne wilkinson had suffered from nerves, and it is stated that his wife recently told a neighbour he had threatened to “end all this” presently.—A. and N.Z.
