EFFORT AT REDUCTION PARISIAN CRITIC DUBIOUS By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 9.5 a.m. PARIS, Thursday. The “Echo de Paris,” commenting on Sir Austen Chamberlain not replying to M. Briand’s Note, despatched 10 days ago, regarding the reduction of the Rhineland occupation forces, suggests that Sir Austen Chamberlain’s idea is to leave the matter to be dealt with at Geneva in the presence of Germans, with the French Foreign Minister pnt on the defensive. Remembering the Locarno and Thoiry promises, the “Echo” adds: “It wil be surprising if a Franco-British agreement is concluded before the executive council of the League meets.”—A. and N.Z.
