AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE
PREPARING THE SITE (Special to THE RUN.) PALMERSTON NORTH, Wednesday. The Government is pushing on with the preparation of the land for the Massey Agricultural College as fast as possible. Draining and ploughing have been extensively carried out, and many chains of new fencing erected. Toward th«» river many acres of land have been ploughed, and nearer the road preparations have been made for the erection of a milking shed and dairyman’s cottage This, together with the drain from the McHardy property to Tiritea, is the work that wag stopped by th* Government on the borough counci holding over the question of tbe acquisition of the McHardy property. On a portion of the property an to be seen sheep, and a number of pedigree Jersey and other cattle. No start has yet been made with the buildings proper, but the next month or two should see a commencement made, especially as the college authorities expect to start operations next year.
