MAYOR OF NEW YORK
BLAND REPLY TO HISSING THREATS AND WARNINGS Reed 9.55 a.m. BERLIN, Wednesday. On his way to Berlin, Mr. James Walker, Mayor of New York, was given translations of threats in the Radical newspapers warning him to avoid the city in consequence of the high feeling there. Though he had jauntily told the British Press that he was determined to remain three days to study housing and other conditions in spite of the bomb threats, he took the American Embassy’s advice to leave the train at an outlying station. Later, demonstrators hissed Mr. Walker as he entered the City Hall to call on the Mayor. Mr Walker replied to the hisses with, “Hello, boys I”—A. and N.Z.
