PROLONGED LEAGUE SEASON AHEAD

TO END OCTOBER 29 BIG TOUR TO SOUTH It appears that at the present time the Auckland League, faced with the problem of arranging suitable dates for fixtures in order to get them off before the warmer months approach, have both hands well filled. At a meeting of the Management Committee held last evening a letter was received from the West Coast Rugby League asking for particulars regarding the tour of the St. George team, as it was desired that the team visit the South. It was decided that the West Coast League be informed to the effect that every possible effort would be made to arrange a Southern tour. In a telegram received from the Otago Rugby League a protest was made against any alteration of the proposed dates for the Auckland matches which are to be played in Dunedin. The chairman, Mr. Rhodes, said that the Advisory Committee has dealt with the question of fixtures for the season, and the letter from the St. George Club, Sydney, dealing with its tour of New Zealand had been taken into consideration. The following itinerary was decided upon for the Auckland touring team: Leave Auckland on September 7; play Canterbury in Christchurch, September 10; West Coast, at Greymouth, September 14; Otago, in Dunedin, September 17; Wellington, in Wellington, September 21. It was unanimously decided to suggest to the West Coast League that the fixture at Greymouth should be a combined match with the Buller League. It was stated it was impossible, oXving to heavy expense, to visit both Greymouth and Buller in the one trip. It was further decided to play the Roope Rooster competition while the Auckland team was on tour, and the following dates for other games were arranged:—September 3, Roope Rooster, first round; September 10, Roope Rooster, second round; September 17, Roope Rooster, third round; September 24, North Island v. South Island; October 1, St. George v. Auckland; October 5, St. George v. club champions; October 8, St. George v. Auckland; October 15, Stormont Shield; October 22, Rotorua v. Auckland; October 29. South Auckland v. Auckland.
