AKITIO COUNTY ROADS
WORK FOR UNEMPLOYED Press Association. PAHIATUA, Tuesday. At a meeting of a number of citizens and settlers a resolution was passed that the Minister of Public Works should employ some of the unemployed in improving the Akitio County roads leading to Pahiatua, in view of the increasing traffic. A gang of the unemployed is now at work on the Pahiatua Hill Road leading to Palmerston North, but it was contended that the Akitio Road work was more important. Facilities for quicker and cheaper transit from the Akitio back-blocks to the Pahiatua rail-head was urged upon the member for the district, Mr. E. A. Ransom, who was present.
