“IT PAYS TO ADVERTISE”

BENEFICIARY TRACED INTERESTING WILL CASE “It pays to advertise,” say the advertising journals, and a beneficiary under a will found that, but for an advertisement, he would not have known that a legacy awaited him in New Zealand. AN interesting case came before Mr. Justice Stringer in the Supreme Court this morning, in which the executors of the estate of Mary King . (Mr. Hall Skelton) were granted letters of administration in the estate. It appeared that an advertisement in an English newspaper was the means of tracing an Auckland man who benefited under the will, and who had been missing for many years. Counsel stated that the case came before Mr. Justice Hosking two years ago, when two sons of the deceased were granted letters of administration. There were two other children who were entitled to benefit under the will, but both were missing. One of them, however, Theodore King, was discovered by the advertisement before Mr. Justice Hosking proposed to make the order. Inquiries had proved that Theodore King was the missing man, but no trace had been found of Minnie Ada King, the other beneficiary, who had not been seen sinee 1908. In making the order this morning, his Honour imposed a condition that, provision should be made for the missing daughter in case she did turn up. This course was agreed to.
