STORMS IN SOUTH
YOUNG LAMBS SUFFER (Special to THE SUN.) CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. A south-westerly gale, accompanied by heavy rain, raged all last night. The wind abated somewhat to-day, but there was an almost continual drizzle 11 this afternoon which upset numerous sporting fixtures. The storm was particularly severe round Banks Peninsula. The bitterly cold weather is reported to be causing losses in districts where lambing has commenced. Little River was isolated this morning, the waters of Lake Forsyth has overfllowed on to the road, thus isolating Little River. This evening the wintry conditions were still in evidence. The ferry steamer Wahine, which arrived two and a half hours late, had a severe buffeting all the way from Wellington.
