A serious clash between Communist strikers and the police occurred in the Avenue D’ltalie in the afternoon, when a crowd of strikers, as a means of protest against the dismissal of a comrade, tried to force an entrance to the Metropolitan Railway Yard. When they were expelled they collected a crowd of 700, seized a policeman, and were proceeding to thrown him down a well when three passersb*’ rushed to the rescue. Police reinforcements arrived.
