LATE TURF
PAKURANGA MEETING THIS MORNING’S TRAINING FINAL WORD FROM ELLERSLIE There was a lot of galloping at Ellerslie this morning on the sand tracks, but from half to three-quarter pace was all that the performers were asked to accomplish. Nukupere (W. Rennie) and Hypothesis (Air. Baker) were companions in a schooling lesson over four hurdles, and they got through their tasks satis-
factorily, though the first-named was inclined to jump high. In a similar performance Town Hall gave a good display, ridden by R. E. Thomson.
Most of the visitors have arrived at headquarters, and many of them worked this morning. Among them were Te Kara, Whaka King, Llandudno, Hypothesis, and Sandbag. Te Kara galloped at three-quarter pace on the sand. ITe looks well. FAVOURITE IS WELL
Aluch interest was taken in Llandudno’s work, buit he was not asked to do better than half pace. The Jellicoe Handicap favourite appears to have got through a good preparation upcountry, for he is in the right condition,. WITH THE RIDERS The following are additional riding engagements: It. E. Thomson. Whaka King; R. Orange, Daddy’s Girl and King Emerald; W. Rennie, Nukupere; R. McTavish, Fiery Lad; J. Cammick, Red Comet. The following are some of the riders in the Ladies’ Bracelet: Air. Dods, Quinvardla; Air. Bingham, Clockwork; Mr. Wheeler, Odin; Mr. Patten, Levinside. Air. J. Morris had not been engaged up to last evening. All*. F. Baker will pilot his horse Hypothesis in the Pakuranga Hunt Cup. Welkne is a. doubtful starter at the meeting, and Four Feathers is said to have broken down. Del Sarto is a doubtful starter in the Greenmount Steeples to-morrow. This race will probably be contested by five horses—Wiltshire, Sea Comet. Glenlight, Nukupere and Hauturu —and with the course so heavy it will be morg a test of jumping ability than pace. THE CAMBRIDGE TEAM R. Hannon’s string—Tinoiti, Tinokoa, Nukupere, Captain Cobham and Prince Lupin arrived from Cambridge yesterday, and they all appear to be in racing order. Beau Cavalier arrived back from Riccarton yesterday, and was given walking exercise this morning. On appearance he has not taken any harm from the hard racing exacted from him at the Grand National Meeting. UNDER A CLOUD AGRION IN TROUBLE DOMINION’S BIG A.J.C. DERBY HOPE By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright SYDNEY, To-day. One of the heels of the racehorse Agrion is giving trouble, and he is doing only light work on the tan track. Trainer R. J.
