The Rome correspondent of the “Daily Mail” says a commission of experts has reported that the Leaning Tower of Pisa has deflected onethird of an inch in nine years. There is no immediate danger of the collapse of fower, but the experts recommend the stabilisation of the foundations in order to prevent a further declination. —Sun. Pisa, famous in art and history, is a town 50 miles from Florence. The cathedral, built between 1063 and 1118, and restored in the early 17th century, is of white marble. Its campanile, known as the Leaning Tower, was built between 1174 and 1350, and rises to a height of 179 ft. in eight colonnaded storeys. The tower overhangs the base by 161 ft.: in 1529 it was 15ift. The foundations are only 10ft deep. The architects, Bonnano and William, of Innsbruck, did not. it is believed, plan other than an upright tower, but it leaned while it was being built. ____
