POOR TASTE IN PRESENTS

THE Mayor, Mr, G. Baildon, is A of the impression that Auckland ratepayers have poor taste in birthday presents. He was congratulated last evening at supper, after the council meeting, at having successfully passed another year of his life. The birthday was on Wednesday, the day of the unsuccessful loan poll. "It wasn’t much of a present they gave me,” he remarked in his reply.
