ONE TREE HILL ROAD BOARD MEETING
BUILDING PROGRESS WATER FOR MT. ROSKILL The One Tree Hill Road Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr. R. G. Clark, presiding. In his report the engineer, Mr. John Dawson, stated that the concreting of the Great South Road on the section between Church Street and St. Ann's Bridge is complete, and shortly, when the new concrete is cured, the whole section will be thrown open for traffic. Campbell Crescent path has been tarred from St. Cuthbert'S to Manukau Road. The new portion of the roadway has been metalled and tarsealed from St. Cuthbert’s to the centre of the new drive. From the drive to Manukau Road excavating and hand packing is being carried out. BUILDING RETURNS The building inspector reported that during the last fortnight 12 building permits have been issued, three being for dwellings valued at £2,540; one for addition to chapel at Diocesan High School valued at £1,000; four alterations valued at £200; two garages valued at £339; one portion of a house valued at £175, and one glass house valued at £2O. making a total of £4,274. A permit to re-erect the Salvation Army Home in Williamson Street was refused on the grounds that the plans do not comply with the by-laws regarding concrete floors and staircases. MOUNT ROSKILL MUST PAY The Mount Roskill Road Board wrote asking if One Tree Hill would go half the way in joining up their water supply with Mount Roskill. Mr. H. B. Dobbie: It seems that Mount Roskill will save £IGO a year by drawing their supply from our reservoir. They ought to be able to join up completely themselves. The board decided to reply that Mount Roskill must bear the whole cost of linking up.
