Following are the results:— Flyweight. —S. Purton (Westport), 7st S£lb, beat S. Gray (Wanganui), 7st 91b, on points; S. Jarvis (Southland) could not make the weight, and defaulted to F. Pearcy (Auckland); K. Hutchinson (Hawke’s Bay) defaulted to N. Roebuck (Taranaki); C. Hurne (Wellington), 7st 81b, beat E. M. Rix (Otago), 7st 101 b, on points. Bantam-weight. —P. Hawse (Westport), Sst 21b, knocked out L. Jarvis (Southland), Bst, in the second round; J. O’Sullivan (Auckland), Bst, knocked out J. Evans (Manawatu), Sst lib, in the second round; O’Sullivan beat Hawse on points; N. Roebuck (Taranaki), defaulted to C. Brosnahan (Christchurch); H. Larsen (Wellington), 7st 131 b, beat R. Hutchinson (Hawke’s Bay), Sst; L. Knuckey (Hawke’s Bay), defaulted to W. Parker (Otago). Feather-weight. —T. Donovan (Taranaki), Bst 101 b, won on a technical knock-out in the first round from F. Kieley (Greymouth), Bst 111 b; G. Adams (Wellington), Sst 111 b, beat G. Wright (Christchurch), Bst 71b, on points; W. G. Leckie (Otago), Sst 111 b, beat L. Knuckey (Hawke’s Bay), Sst 81b, on points; G. Steele (Southland), a bye.
Light-weight. —L. W. Gee (Bay of Plenty), defaulted to A. Jones (Southland); J. R. Martin (Millerton) and W. Gilson (Bluff), both defaulted; T. Slattery (Auckland), 9st 101 b, beat J. Bishara (Taumarunui). 9st 101 b, on points; E. Morgan (Wellington). 9st 131 b, beat R. Fulcher (Otago), 9st 81b, on points.
Welter-weight —E. Armishaw (Auckland), lOst 71b, beat G. McEwan (Southland), lOst 81b, on points: P. J. Stone (Wellington), lOst 31b, beat L. Adams (Southland), lOst 51b. on points; S. Heavy-weight. —P. McCarthy (Auckland, 12st 81b, knocked out S. Hogg (Greymouth), 12st 101 b, in the first round: A. Campbell (North Otago), 12st lib, beat G. Carlson (Wanganui), 12st 121 b, on points; J. G. Leckie (Otago), 12st 91b, beat W. E. Tyree (Wellington), 12st 41b. on points.
DOMINION BOXING ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING HELD LIMITATION OF PURSES INVERCARGILL, Wednesday. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Boxing Association was held today, Mr. S. A. Strickland presiding. Delegates were present from Wellington, Marlborough, Taumarunui, Christchurch, Gisborne, Greymouth. Tlawke’s Bay, Manawatu, Napier, North Otago, Otago and Bluff. It was decided that before a licence is issued to a professional boxer, he must furnish the council with a certificate of competency issued by the association in the district of which he is a resident. A Hawke’s Bay remit was carried advocating the limitations of the purse to £l5O for professional bouts save in special circumstances, and then only with the concurrence of the New Zealand Association. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. E. A. Craig, Auckland; council, Messrs. P. F. McEvedy, D. R. Hoggard, J. R. Simpson, E. Blundell, E. A. Dawson, J. W. Heenan and L. R. St. J. Beere. It was decided to hold the 1928 championships at Auckland.
