EX-BARRISTER FINED ON THEFT CHARGE
FOUR BOOKS STOLEN John Lockwood Brady, aged 26, an ex-barrister and solicitor of Auckland, was convicted of theft at the Police Court yesterday afternoon, by Mr. E. C. Cutten. S.M., and fined £6. Bradv had been charged on Monday with being an idle and disorderly person, and with stealing four books from the Public Library. Two other theft charges were withdrawn by the police. The magistrate, in his reserved decision, said that the vagrancy charge had been answered, but accused’s explanation of how he came into possession of the books was not reasonable. He would be fined £6.
