“SPRINGY” FROCKS FOR THE SPRING
Trimming looking at first sight like coils of wire is the latest idea foxdecorating spring suits and frocks. Already on the Riviera it is the fashion, and many of the newest Paris models show this “snaky” trimming. The coils are not really made of wire but of braid, skilfully sewn on to give the effect. On a simply-cut serge frock the trimming starts with a coil on either shoulder, the braid then extending down the fi-ont of the bodice and finishing itself off in another spiral at either side of the low waistline. The only trimming of some of the smartest new coats and skirts are coils of narrow braid on the cuffs and lapels. It gives the simplest little suit a jaunty and unusual air. For the older woman who prefers rather a more elaborate costume there may be spirals of braid till round the flared hem of her coat with a single wide strip of braid down either- side of the skirt rather in the manner of a man’s dress trousers: but the simpler method is most popular. As a rule, the braid is in the same colour as the dress itself, although black or navy blue is a favourite combination.
