Practically al lthe members of the Nanking Government have resigned, following the example of General Chiang Kai-Shek, whose sudden return to Shanghai and departure for Xingpo was the outcome of a stormy conference of the Nanking military chiefs, in which Chang was openly defied by his erstwhile most trusted aides.
