SOCCER KNOCK-OUT COMPETITION

“Club Captain” writes:-— In connection with the forthcoming "knock-out" competition in the second grade, it appears remarkable that some of the clubs have, at this late hour, realised that so many of their senior players are only fit for the second grade. It is only a true sporting spirit to allow those players who have been playing second grade during the season to have the "knockout" competition among themselves. It savours too much of "pot-hunting” to find clubs regrading their senior players for the sole purpose of winning this competition. It is such tactics as these that make the genuine junior player and those supporters who follow them every Saturday dissatisfied. In the interest of the game the A.F.A. should give the juniors a fair run.
