AUCKLAND SCHOOLS’ SOCCER REP. TEAM
A special match was played on Saturday between teams representing Auckland secondary schools and primary schools as a trial in view of the forthcoming visit of the Australian schoolboys’ Association football team. The secondary schools won by 3 goals to 2.
The following team was chosen to represent Auckland at Blandford Park on September s:—Cleal (Takapuna Grammar), Haggett (Northcote), Pennicook (Beresford Street), Blair (Belmont), King (Mount Albert Grammar), Knight (Auckland Grammar), Robinson (Technical), Gribble (Bayfield), McClusky (Takapuna Grammar), Ashwin (Technical), Yarnton (Belmont).
The boys will commence training with the primary schools’ representatives at Victoria Park on Wednesday afternoon under the supervision of Ser-geant-Major Odey, of H.M.S. Philomel. The New Zealand representative team will be announced shortly. The provincial primary schools’ representatives will arrive in Auckland on August 30, and the tournament will start on August 31.
