BACKS TOO GOOD Although not carrying the same interest as the King s-Grammar game, the curtain-raiser between Sacred Heart College and Mount Albred Grammar School was certainly productive of more back-play. This generally emanated from the Sacred Heart players, who possess one or two very promising backs. Their inside men, Trigg, McDonald and Hasson, handled very cleanly, despite adverse ground conditions, and were quiclUv in action. In the final quarter Hassan, wao had been playing second five-eighth, was brought into his regular position at half—an obvious improvement in the combination. The latter is a good half and throws out a very clean pass. McDonald, a young Samoan, who frequently caught the eye, has the makings of a first-class five-eighth. He appears to have “football sense,” which is undoubtedly a gift at birth. His only mistake in judgment was a tendency at times to play too deep. However, it was only taken advantage of by the opposition on one occasion, although it should be remembered that an interception got away with once might easily mean three or live points for the other side. Hura, on the wing, is a strong runner who also shows promise. MeVeagh. Quin and Redwood were the pick of a very even lot of forwards.
