INCREASED PRODUCTION CONTROL BOARD CRITICISED HINUERA COMPANY (From Our Own Correspondent.) HINUERA, Friday. Control Board methods of marketing butter came in for few good words at the annual meeting of the Hinuera Co-operative Dairy Company held yesterday. A resolution was passed urging the Government to have the personel of the board reduced to two. Reviewing operations for the past season the chairman, Mr. J. E. West, said that it was disappointing that a better pay-out had not been shown, the economic conditions at Home being anything but favourable to good prices. The Control Board system of nfarketing was badly received by merchants at Home, and the public generally Some of the output was placed on V0..5 local market, but competition was just as keen, and the returns were not as good as was anticipated. A substantial improvement had been made both in quantity and quality of butter-fat received and butter manufactured. The grading was higher and r.he additional plant installations had be~n very beneficial. Up to the end of January about 1,000 boxes were graded second, but since then there had been only 161 boxes classed second grodj. and over the latter period the gradingfigures had disclosed 98 per cent, finest. There was still room for improvement, however, in the handling of cream and cans. The report and balance sheet already reviewed in THE SUN were adopted. Messrs. T. Corry and I. Black were elected to the directorate. RAETIHI DAIRY CO. (From Our Own Correspondent.) RAETIHI, Friday In common with the experience of dairy companies in other parts of the district, the Raetihi Co-operative Dairy Company recorded an increase in output for the past season, according to a report presented to the annual meeting of shareholders held yesterday. The monthly advances to suppliers averaged Is Id a lb., and it was decided to make a §nal payment of lid a lb. The l'etail store showed a net profit of £371, and a bonus of 3 cent, was recommended to be paid to suppliers on their purchases. Shareholders would receive a dividend of 5 per cent, on paid-up capital. It was resolved to engage the s-? *- vices of a dairy inspector for the forthcoming season. Directors were elected as follow: Messrs. A. B. Harris, E. A. Voelkerling, E. L. Sommerville, C. Andersson, C. D. Scarrow, L. Fetzer and M. Geraghty. Messrs. Jones and Masters were ; appointed auditors.
