Publicity for Bankrupts.—The Auckland Chamber of Commerce decided yesterday to oppose the suggestion to prohibit publication of reports of examination of bankrupts. It was thought that publicity acted as a deterrent to people who would otherwise be likely to defraud their creditors. The meeting advocated the registration of private assignments, and repeated a previous resolution that more satisfactory methods of dealing with absconding debtors were necessary.
