ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES
FINAL REPORT GAZETTED OUTLINE OF CHANGES (THE SUN'S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-day. The final reports of the Electoral Boundaries Commission have been approved by the Governor-General and were gazetted to-day, but it is difficult to say from the Gazette whether any petitions against the provisional boundaries have been granted or declined, as this information is shown only in the reports which will be tabled in the House of Representatives next week. There have been only a few alterations in the provisional boundaries, together with changes in the names of some of the electorates. Bay of Islands, Marsden, Kaipara and Waitemata remain practically the same as the provisional boundaries. Auckland Central and Grey Lynn also are practically unaltered. Auckland East hands over a little of Newmarket to Parnell, the boundary coming down Manukau Road from the east side of the Grammar School to the railway workshops. To compensate for giving this area to Parnell a small area near One Tree Hill has been handed over from Parnell to Manukau. Auckland South, which was a new electorate arid takes in the greater part of Eden Borough, now becomes Eden Electorate. Auckland Suburbs is the new name for the late Eden electorate, which is now semi-rural and takes in portion of Roskill. Mercer has been changed to Hauraki and from a study of the existing boundaries it would appear that Hauraki has been made up from the greater part of Thames which extended up the west side of the Hauraki Gulf. The provisional boundaries of Thames remain the same. Ohinemuri has gone out of existence apparently into the Thames, Tauranga and Waikato. In the Waikato there has apparently been a slight alteration which has caused the inclusion of a portion of Tauranga round about Wardville and Gordon. Thames has come down a little into Tauranga and now includes Waihi. Tauranga extends along the Bay of Plenty foreshore towards Whakatane and the west boundary of the Bay of Plenty electorate. Rotorua loses its foreshore on the Bay of Plenty to Tauranga. There is no change in the Bay of Plenty itself since the provisional boundaries were fixed. Taranaki remains according to the provisional boundaries as New Plymouth. There has been very little alteration in the South Island.
