“Query” again writes: Last Saturday the Auckland Rugbv representatives defeated South Canterbury by 32 points to 6, but I do not think that keen followers would be very much impressed, despite the big difference in the scores. South Canterbury was & very mediocre side, and with* the exception of Lucas and Hadley, our representatives as a team were not very far ahead; so little on the day that I will venture to say that had the two players mentioned been onlookers it would have been hard to say which side would have won. In the position of fullback, Paewai was not severely tested, but Butlers display in the “curtain-raiser” was excellent, and there seems little doubt
