CHAMPIONSHIPS ALLOTTED Press Association. PALMERSTON NORTH, Thurs. The annual conference of the New Zealand Auto-Cycle Union was held at Palmerston North yesterday, delegates being present from 12 affiliated club?. Affiliation was granted the Auckland Sports Motor Club. The New Zealand championships were allocated for the coming year as follows:—Light - weight. Wanganui: middle-weight, Foxton; heavy-weight, Gisborne. The election of officers resulted: President. Mr. W. Spragg (Hawera). vice-presidents, Messrs. C. Allan (New Plymouth), H. B. Burrell cFeildingi. and J. C. Kay (Auckland): treasurer, Mr. K. Fowler (Marton) : secretary. Mr. A. Way (Marton); auditor. Mr. F. Hatherly (Marton); ex€*cutive. the chairman and Messrs. H. B. Burrell (Feilding) and B. Palmer. A Manawatu remit was carried that th_ benevolent fund cover riders from the time they leave the birdcage prior to doing the preliminary until after the last race. A remit was also carried granting doctor’s, hospital and masseur’s expenses when ordered by medical practitioners and certified. A full discussion took place on the question of holding a reliability trial. Mr. W. Spragg said lie had tried last year to get a trial on the way, but there was no support from affiliated clubs. Eventually it was decided to recommend the new executive to investigate and to give it power to act The rule regarding the size and shape of number-plates was altered. The plates must now be an Bin. white figure on a black background, and rectangular instead of circular. Riders must also wear numbers on their backs.
