WATERSIDERS 'CLAIM FOR £l.ooo DAMAGES

JURY FAILS TO AGREE After a long retirement the jury sitting in a claim for damages at the Supreme Court yesterday before Mr. Justice Stringer, failed to reach an agreement. The claim was for £SOO damages each, brought by two waterside workers, Frederick Hay and Robert Lee (Mr. J. P. O’Regan) against John Ernest Anderson and William Edward Webster (Mr. L. P. Leary). It arose out of an accident on the wharf when the two plaintiffs were struck in turn by a falling bale of goods and injured. The defence contended that the Auckland Harbour Board was the responsible body. On the motion of Mr. O’Regan, the case was adjourned until next session.
