OVERSEAS MIGRATION
POSITION IN AUSTRALIA Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright SYDNEY, Wednesday. The Acting Commonwealth Statistician states that the total permanent gain to the population of Australia from overseas migration during the year ended on June 30 last was 49,722 composed of 31,157 males and 18,565 females, an increase of 38 per cent., compared with the previous year. The arrivals numbered 115,479, and the departures 65,757. —A. and N.Z.
