A SCHUBERT NIGHT

Notwithstanding the boisterous weather prevailing last evening, an enthusiastic audience attended at the town hall, Papatoetoe, when a musical programme, directed by Miss Law, was given under the auspices of the Papatoetoe Literary and Debating Society. Miss Law opened a first-class programme with a lecturette on the works and life of the music composer, Franch Schubert, and the first part of the programme was devoted to this artist’s works, the contributors being Miss Law, Mr. Brough, Miss Margaret Stodard, Mrs. Towsey. The second portion of the programme was provided by the same artists, with the addition of Madame Saint James in elocutionary items.
