Auckland Winter Show’s Success
A HANDSOME SURPLUS DIFFERENT FROM WELLINGTON The Auckland Winter Show was a financial success. It is anticipated that there will be a-, handsome profit from the show. These facts were made known yesterday by the president, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, at a meeting of the Auckland Manufacturers* Association. This was in rather striking contrast to the Wellington Winter Show, where a loss of approximately a third in the gate receipts was indicated. Mr. Allum also declared that the fire loss at the Auckland show was considerably less than at first anticipated. Expenditure would be less this year, he said, and another satisfactory feature was that space was sold out at least three weeks before the opening of the show. “I think there will be a handsome surplus,” declared the secretary, Mr. J. Findlay. It will be impossible, however, to indicate what that profit will be until all accounts have been received.
