SOLITUDE OF STONEHENGE
FUND OF £35,000 WANTED By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Thursday. The Prime Minister, Mr. Baldwin, the Leader of the Labour Party, Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, Mr. Thomas Hardy, Viscount Grey and others, have issued an appeal for £35,000 with which to purchase 1,444 acres on Salisbury Plain. The object is to ensure in perpetuity the solitude of Stonehenge and its ancient stones. Otherwise extensive building close to Stonehenge is inevitable.—A. and N.Z.
