ELIZABETHAN RUFF FOR SHINGLED
AIRY-FAIRY FASHION AS NECK-WEAR A thoughtful fashion expert has designed a sort of shingle screen, really an airy-fairy tulle ruffle standing round the back of the neck and wearing a somewhat Elizabethan air. Shingled hair is improving to the front view of most, but often the back view reveals an uninteresting curve or a want of curve altogether; the lines between the end of the shingle and the beginning of the frock, so charming in the very young, can be dull and even ugly in those no longer quite young. This is where the thoughtful fashion expert steps in. His ruffle forms a gracious background to the head, hides the too exuberant or too scanty lines of the neck and the monotonous line of the hair, and altogether introduces an air of mysterious charm where before all was a harsh and obvious reality. The tulle can be tied with narrow ribbon, or fastened with a metal chain and clasp.
