GIFTS ACCEPTED At the Thames Borough Council meeting on Thursday the council accepted a portrait of the first Mayor o£ the borough, Mr. W. Davies, from his daughter, Mrs. A. 1. Gills, of Herne Bay, Auckland. A painting was also accepted from Mr. Wesley Woolhouse for presentation to the Thames Hospital Board. The electrical engineer reported that damage caused by the recent easterly gale had been repaired, and that there were now 1,055 users of electricity within Ul9 borough. The presentation of the Mayoral chain was recognised by : a special vote of thanks to Mr. A. Burns, of Auckland.
