OHINEMURI COUNTY
DAMAGE BY FLOOD (From Our Own Correspondent ) PAEROA. To-day. The Ohinemuri county engineer, reporting to the meeting yesterday upon the condition of the roads, advised that a recent flood had caused a 2in- water main to fall into the Ohinemuri River, but repairs had been completed. Several washouts had occurred on the Maratoto Road, which was being widened. Settlers were finding it difficult to cart supplies on the old Te Aroha Road, and 120 yards of metal was required to put it in order. Claims on the Main Highway Board had been granted as requested, except for a minor amount. Pending additional authority tlio number of workmen had been slightly reduced. The metal required for Te Aroha was authorised. The annual subscription to the public library was increased to £7 15s. A resolution of condolence with the relatives of the late Mr. A. D. McGuire was passed, and. the council adjourned for half-an-hour as a mark of respect to his memory.
