AUCKLAND SINGER’S SUDDEN DEATH

LATE MR. ARTHUR ASBURY Mr. Arthur Asbury, the well-known Auckland tenor, died on Wednesday night. A frequent solist at gatherings of the Savage and Orphans Clubs, he will be much missed in musical circles in this city. Fifty-one years of age, Mr. Asbury came to Auckland about 27 years ago. In his younger days he also achieved attention as a sprinter. He likewise had the distinction of being a member of the Aston Villa Soccer Club at the time it was the champion combination of England. Mr. Asbury was a member of the committee of the Auckland Choral Society, a member of the New Zealand Quartette, and, for a number of years has been a member of St. Peter’s Anglican choir. at Takapnna.
