“PEOPLE IN GLASS-HOUSES . . ”
A N entertaining young man, who writes under the name of “Pedal” in another paper, has been putting his foot in it. In his notes this week, he airily refers to the times given in THE SUN as being incorrect, quite forgetful of the fact that our cycling critic, Velos, is always at Mangere on Saturdays, and gets his times from the official timekeepers. While on the subject of “incorrect” reporting, “Pedal” must have been day-dreaming when he wrote: "White gained fastest time from Prior by two lengths.” As this same scribe was a competitor in the race, perhaps he was too tired, or too casual, to inquire of the judges by how much White had won. The judges gave it “two inches,” which was correct. “Pedal” wants to pedal a bit faster for a change. |
